    We purchased a Baileys Motorhome in October 2022. At the first viewing the owner/manager Rod was on holiday and so not a lot off information was readily available, but we were shown around by his brother, who was happy to let us view at our own pace. We raised a concern over whether a spare wheel was included and was assured it was (stowed underneath the vehicle). When we returned the next day for a test drive, we were again assured there was definitely a spare wheel, but only after the deposit was paid and my husband crawled underneath we were told this was not the case we would have to buy a tyre inflater repair kit, slightly disappointing. Via several text messages and a phone calls with Rod we agreed to collect the vehicle 3 weeks later when both he and ourselves had returned from holidays, we agreed to pay the full asking price of £53,000 on the condition of a satisfactory Habitation Check, a new MOT, and a Full Service all to be carried out prior to collection. 3 additional items were also to be supplied and fitted to the motorhome, similar to those shown on other motorhomes at the garage. A microwave, a 4 cycle bike rack, and a 12volt Smart / Freeview TV with wall bracket. On collection we were very disappointed to see that the Bike Rack was obviously a 2nd hand one taken off another vehicle rather than new as we had expected, although we immediately realised this was the case, we let it go as were keen to complete the purchase. A new microwave had been fitted as requested, and we assume this to also be the case with the TV. However, a few weeks later the TV developed a fault and on returning it to Avtex for repairs under its warranty, they discovered it was extremely rusty inside due to historical liquid damage, saying something had been being spilt over the back of the tv, damaging the circuit boards and so not covered by the warranty and was not repairable. We have had to pay out £425 for a replacement. Whilst we appreciated Rod couldn’t see inside the TV, had this been the NEW TV we were expecting and felt we had paid for this wouldn’t have been an issue in the first place. Then the Dashboard Display started flashing “Change Engine Oil” which we were concerned about as this should have been done during the Full Service, however after speaking with Rod via text as he was on holiday, he assured us this was due to the Servicing Garage not updating the onboard computer, which in fairness appears to be the case as the Service History had been correctly updated, Rod suggested we Googled / YouTubed how to re-set the Oil Warning, which we have now done. When discussing the TV, Rod said (15th January) if I forwarded the Receipt / Invoice for the replacement TV (which I emailed to him) he would be happy to make a contribution towards it on his return from holiday the following week. A Month later he is not returning or acknowledging my emails or texts. We had decided not to do a review immediately as wanted to be sure all was good with the motorhome and the whole purchasing experience, in order to be able to leave a true, balanced and hopefully positive account. Unfortunately, whilst very happy with our motorhome, we feel we were misled / deceived during the purchasing process and due to this and the poor aftercare we would be unable to recommend Thopeleys.

    Just bought a caravan from Thorpe leys with a part exchange with my van Rod gave me a exchange value which we agreed upon when I took my van to change he did not argue with the valuation. I found rod to be a most agreeable chap although he mainly deals in motor homes I found excellent service, Rod many thanks

    Fantastic customer service

    Went went to view a Motorhome which a view to part exchanging ours. On arrival we were met by Rod who made us feel more than welcome and then he made me a cup as we had traveled down from the north east. This type of customer service does not happen anymore so first opinions of this company were high. Rod then showed us around the Motorhome that we intended to purchase and explained how everything worked as this was a newer model than ours and there were several additional upgrades that our Motorhome did not have. Rod then inspected our Motorhome and offered us a very reasonable and fair price as part of the trade in deal. The price that Rod offered us was accepted and we agreed to pay the difference to the price of the new Motorhome Rod was selling. After the deal was done, we had some difficulties in getting online temporary motor insurance on my mobile phone so Rod immediately offered to sort the insurance for me. All in all it was a great day for us, the customer service that Rod offers in above and beyond for what passes a customer services these from other suppliers these days and I have no problem in recommending his business to friends and colleagues. Keep up the great work Rod!

    Not the way to treat potential customers

    We saw a motor home for sale, rang and spoke with the owner, he described everything and asked when could we view it, said he wasn’t around next day so arranged an appointment to view at his convenience, on the day of viewing rang to ask if it was possible to view earlier, no response so left a voice mail. Within one minute received a text saying it was sold. Good job we didn’t turn up at the arranged time to view, very annoyed.

    Thorpe Leys Motor Company seems initially to be a nice guy selling quality vehicles. However, should you be sold a dodgy vehicle, you may find he can get quite shouty to his customers and refuse to fix the faults. Bit poor.

    Sorry about your problems but be honest i gave you all your money back & you returned the vehicle with a hole in a side window which you disguised with a stick at a cost of over £300 for me so i think i looked after you on this one Andy
